Victory at the Daniellla Crawford Cup.

The Kingussie High School girls team had a great victory in Ardnamurchan on Thursday. There were 9 teams competing in a strong field with all teams playing each other in a round robin format. The Kingussie girls started strongly winning the first four games before losing the next three. A fine win in the last group game against Ardnamurchan B meant that we qualified for the semi final, coming fourth in the group.

The semi final was against group winners Ardnamurchan A who had beaten us 3-0 in the group game. The tag of underdogs seemed to spur on Kingussie and they dominated the game creating numerous chances. It was a solitary goal from Mairi Stewart that won the game. Mairi picked the ball up before rasping an unstoppable shot from distance.

The final was then against reigning champions Lochaber, another team that had beaten us in the group stage. Again Kingussie started the game brightly and a wonderful hit from Megan Ralph was enough to win the match and the trophy was heading back to Kingussie.

It was a pleasure to accompany the team today as the girls showed determination, fight, spirit hard work and a great work ethic throughout every game. It was a fantastic team effort and all girls played their part in an impressive win. Well done to all girls involved and all parents should be very proud of their daughters. I certainly am!
