Under 16s Football team secure 5:1 win against Golspie High School

Under 16s - March 2015

The Kingussie Under 16s football team recorded an excellent result against Golspie High last week winning 5-1. In poor conditions Kingussie took the lead through Freddie Mcfadyen (S4) who slotted a goal home nicely. Golspie equalised against the run of play before Iain Robinson (S5) scored with minutes remaining in the half to take a 2-1 lead into half time.

In the second half Kingussie took full control of the game and soon extended the lead through 2 more goals from hat trick hero Iain Robinson. Alexander Michie (S3) scored from close range to complete the scoring in this excellent victory. Man of the match was Jordan Beaton for his solid performance in the middle of the park. Special thanks to Craig Macleod (S6) and Craig Ritchie (S6) for refereeing the match.

Kingussie Senior Football Team put a dent in Charleston Academy’s title hopes

Kingussie beat Charleston Academy on Thursday night  4-3 away.

This is an absolutely fantastic result, especially considering that they had had a game the night before and were missing a number of regular team members. Charleston have also been unbeaten in their previous five games.

Kingussie went 2 nil up through a typical strikers goal from Fowler and a wonder strike from Denman. They were pinned Back to 2-2 at half time before Mckechan (who had a superb game) put them 3-2 up.

Charleston equalised before a thunder bolt from Daragh Chalmers with 5 minutes to go won it for Kingussie.

The work rate from the whole team was tremendous.

Craig Ritchie despite picking up a knock was superb at the back and Spinks once again marshaled the midfield despite being up against a Ross-County under 20s player.

Stuart Mitchell is continuing to make the step up from 16s look easy while MacLeods vocals in goal help keep the Back 4 solid.

Overall a fantastic result.

MOM – Rory Mckechan

KHS Girls Football Team win 11-2 against Inverness Royal Academy

Congratulations to the girls football team who ran out 11-2 winners against Inverness Royal Academy in their first home game of the season!

Captain Lauren Gunning grabbed 4 first half goals with Suzie Adam and Rachael Borthwick adding to the first half tally. The second half followed a similar pattern with a dominant display from the girls, Rachael added 3 more goals to her tally with Leah Dallas and Rona Stewart rounding off a very good team performance with a goal a piece.

The girls battled from the first whistle and played very well as a solid unit throughout! Again it was tough to pick a player of the match but this week it goes to Rachael Borthwick!

Well done to all the girls and Mr Bray for his support (although we still aren’t quite sure what he is wearing!)

Photo: Well done to the girls football team in their match last night up at Dingwall. The final score was 4-1 to the home side, however the result didn't give a true reflection of the game. It was a very competitive encounter and all the girls played very well. Rona Stewart grabbed Kingussie's goal and man of the match goes to Megan Ralph and Leah Dallas - a very tough decision as it could have gone to anyone of the girls! Well done to all! Next game is Monday at home to Inverness Royal Academy!

Under 16s Football Team success against Grantown [score 8-2]

Yet another excellent result for the under 16 football team tonight with Kingussie beating Grantown 8-2. Kingussie showed their intentions right from the start putting a lot of pressure on the Grantown defense. After only a few minutes Stuart Mitchell scored is third goal in 3 games before Jake Reynold-Jones went on a mazy run from the half way line passing 4 or 5 defenders before slamming the ball into the top corner! A Ben Mitchell Penalty and a superb free kick from Sean Carson saw the boys go 4 up before Grantown pulled one back. The second half continued like the first with Kingussie on the attack and it didn’t take long to extend the lead with goals from Craig Johnstone, Iain Robinson and further 2 from Jake Reynold-Jones. Grantown pulled a late goal back but it was another great performance from the boys and man of the match Jake Reynold-Jones! Keep it up!

Senior Boys Football Team put in a great effort against Dingwall Academy

Senior football against Dingwall

The senior boys lost to a last minute goal to Dingwall Academy last Thursday in the semi-final of the cup tonight. Losing the tie 3-2. Playing against the Dingwall side who are the current league leaders the boys more than matched them for the entire game. A valiant effort from our seniors who’s work rate and commitment was 100%.

The Dingwall Academy Depute Rector commented on the attitude and ability of the players and was quoted as saying, “it won’t be long before a winning league or cup team comes out of Kingussie.” Let’s Hope so!
