We need to be mindful of the impact of COVID-19 on our children and young people, many of whom may have suffered loss and trauma as a result. For all learners a key focus during this period of remote learning needs to be health and wellbeing. It will be essential that remote learning approaches reflect this and we continue to work together across Highland to support our young people, schools, school community, parents & carers.
Further information for Parents / Carers:

We have been made aware that some pupils have experienced issues in terms of watching and accessing YouTube videos on Chromebooks with various error messages appearing instead. It appears that this problem has arisen from Google/YouTube changing their policy on permissions which has required users to re-accept cookies.

This short video talks you through how to resolve this problem and hopefully allows these videos to be watched as planned.

It is worth noting that Highland Pupils are not able to sign into YouTube using their Highland Google Account. This is due to the fact that YouTube has set a recommended age of 18 (13 with parental permission) to have a YouTube account. With an account, users are able to upload their own content, bookmark and favourite video clips and leave comments on other videos.

However, not being able to sign into YouTube does not stop any pupil from watching videos that have been set by teachers-it simply means they cannot access their own YouTube account.

Welcome back to the new school term. It’s not the start to the term that we had all hoped for as we return to online learning but we have been here before and got through it together. We want to emphasise that we are here to support you and your child through this period of online learning.
There will be a question posted each day on your child’s google classroom. It is important that pupils answer the question by 11am as we will send an attendance text message to parents/carers to alert you if your child does not register. If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact your child’s guidance teacher in the first instance.
Stay safe and take care.

New Term Update

Parent Carer Letter from Nicky Grant Executive Chief Officer 5th January 2021

Dear Parent/Carer,

Happy new year to you and your family. I think we are all hoping for a better year this year in 2021 and I wanted to share with you the details for Kingussie High School opening again tomorrow.   The school will be open to key worker children who are in S1 & S2 and to the pupils who received an email before the holidays having been identified by our support department.

School transport will run as normal as will the cleaning and catering teams. Can I please emphasise that face coverings must be worn when using the school transport and when moving around the school.

Please find a letter from Highland Council with all the details that you require and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

We have done online learning before and I am confident that we can offer a high quality experience for all our learners.

Take care

Ian Adamson
